Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family.

I’m an estimator for RGS Painting Inc. / Quality Drywall Commercial Paint Company in Corpus Christi, TX. I graduated from Gregory Portland High School in 1993.

I’m married to my wonderful wife Stephanie, and father to our three children Bethany, Chandler and Sarah. I’m also a grandpa to our beautiful granddaughter Juniper.

Why is it important to you to be part of a team at GracePoint?

Being a part of a team of like-minded believers — fellowshipping together, serving God together, learning from one another, encouraging one another, supporting and praying for one another — is what I believe God intended for us to do as a member of his family.

What teams are you involved with here at GracePoint?

I serve on the GraceKids elementary team, teaching our children God’s word! I help them know God and build their relationship with our Savior Jesus Christ. This is my favorite place to serve! It’s very challenging but very rewarding.

I also serve in our Celebrate Recovery program, helping fellow believers overcome their hurts, hang ups and habits through Christ-centered teaching.

Once a month, I join the next steps team in the next steps room to pray for anyone who has need.

And I also serve on what has been (humorously) called the “Solid Waste Ministry Team”. At the end of services each Sunday, we volunteer to take out the garbage.

I like
woodworking,
hunting,
fishing,
gardening,
playing disc golf,
reading,
helping others,
and learning new things.

If you could encourage someone to join a team at GracePoint, what would you say?

Pick a spot and serve! Try different areas and see where God leads you. He has a plan for us all if we are willing to put our “Yes” on the table. You will be blessed beyond measure, and I promise you won't regret it.

David's Favorites
  • Ice cream: Cookies & Cream

  • Sports team: Houston Astros (Let’s go, Astros!)

  • Book: the Bible (of course!). But he is also a huge fan of the Robert Jordon series called “The Wheel of Time”. He’s read all 14 books!

  • Bible verses: Romans 12:1-2

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Romans 12:1-2 ESV

Tell us about a vision story that you have seen unfold at GracePoint.

It’s been awesome to see how everyone came together to get where we are today as a church.

We started in a living room with a vision and a few willing believers. Now we're in a place where we can welcome others to hear God's word, where we can meet together and serve, share, teach, pray, mourn, grow, and continue building God's Kingdom.

I truly believe this is God's vision and it’s bearing good fruit!
